Reviews

In the Symphony for Strings (1940), Collins’s penchant for pastiche is to the fore. His most famous piece of all is the disarmingly simple Vanity Fair. First performed in 1952, this is the composition he most wanted to be remembered for, and indeed it is an exquisite little miniature of the sort that cheers you up every time you hear it.

John Wilson and the BBC Concert Orchestra play all his msuic with great affection and style, and they are well supported by Dutton's engineering team.
