About
For violinist Petra Müllejans, spontaneity and emotionality are inseparable facets of historically informed performance practice whose aim is to impart the music of past centuries appropriately and, above all, with spirit. She is active as one of two artistic directors, leader of the orchestra, soloist and chamber musician in the Freiburger Barockorchester, in whose development she has played a decisive role.
The South African pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout studied at the Eastman School of Music in the USA and now lives in London. He has made a point of exploring early keyboards, studying harpsichord with Arthur Haas, fortepiano with Malcolm Bilson and continuo playing and performance practice with Paul O'Dette. He is a frequent guest artist with the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Concerto Köln, The Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Collegium Vocale Gent, in many instances assuming the role of guest director.
Instruments:
- Violin Joseph Clotz, Mittenwald, c.1700
- Fortepiano Derek Adlam,Welbeck, 1987, after Anton Walter, Vienna, c.1795, from the collection of Christopher Hogwood
