About
The basis of the recorded pieces is love in its numerous facets. There is the desire for love in the famous Italian madrigal ‘Io canterei d’Amor' and 'Anchor che col partire’. The madrigals by composer Diego Ortiz tell about the adoration of the lady-love, as do the chanson ‘De tous biens plaine’ and the piece ‘Pulchra es amica mea’. But the dark side of love with its agony and sorrow is also told. The poetry about love by Francesco Petrarca and Francois Villon fits perfectly into the concept of the album.
All madrigals are performed with virtuosity and artful decorations in the typical Renaissance style. The rare combination of recorders with soprano singing creates a fascinating sound.
