About

The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers is based at Brompton Barracks in Chatham, Kent and this CD was recorded in the wonderful Chapel in the adjacent Historic Naval Dockyard. The recording was made in the middle of the film set built to depict the House of Commons in the film 'Amazing Grace' which was shot there soon afterwards. One of the tracks is that very song, with solo bagpipes.

The programme is an attractive and historic mixture of music associated with the Corps of Royal Engineers (CRE) and of music arranged and composed by former Directors of Music. There are marches, troops, a mazurka, a trombone solo (The Acrobat), Post Horn Gallop and the regimental song Hurrah for the CRE, whose extraordinary text is enthusiastically sung by members of the Band.

Recorded in the Dockyard Chapel, Chatham.
