Christian PollackAbout
This fifteenth volume in Marco Polo’s ongoing Johann Strauss I Edition presents a cavalcade of dances, including the rapturously received High Society Quadrille, the uplifting Strollers Waltzes, the highly original Valhalla-Toasts Waltzes and the Minnesinger Waltzes, which borrow from the music of Adrien-François Servais, ‘the darling and hero of the 1842 concert season’.
The Slovak Sinfonietta has previously been praised for their lively interpretations of this music: “[They] are an accomplished chamber ensemble with plenty of polish…this is enjoyable, feel-good listening and once again Marco Polo adds to the pleasure of this series with an informative, well-written booklet.” American Record Guide on Vol.4 (8.225254)
