'Violin X' presents the violin in a special light, with the emphasis on energy and discovery. Here the instrument will vitalize you, make you want to get up and dance, and enjoy life. It is presented in all its guises: from perfect imitation of its ultimate model, the human voice, to the most extravagant acrobatics, from intimate murmurs to muscular confrontation with a thunderous orchestra.
The album brings together exemplary violin works from the 17th-20th centuries, from masterpieces for solo violin to the concerted repertoire by great composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Paganini, Kreisler, Sibelius and Franck. And the listener can also discover rare gems by Biber, Benda, Granados and others.
The roster of soloists who provide these excellent performances are Fabio Biondi, Sergey Khachatryan, Yossif Ivanov, Enrico Onofri, Régis Pasquier, Manfredo Kraemer and Evgueni Bushkov, and the no less talented accompanists (on piano or with baton) include Itamar Golan, Daniel Blumenthal, Rinaldo Alessandrini and Emmanuel Krivine.
