Under the baton of their Director of Music, Lt-Col Malcolm Torrent, the Royal Artillery Band perform a highly entertaining concert programme. Among the selection of marches, they perform Prodana Nevesta, a march based on melodies from Smetana’s opera The Bartered Bride, in a version by former Director of Music, Ladislao Cavalière Zavertal, himself a pupil of Dvorak.
Amongst other attractive items we also hear contemporary composer Philip Sparke’s excellent Orient Express and Ardross Castle from his Hymn of the Highlands, Gordon Langford’s Fantasy on British Sea Songs and John Ansell’s nautical overture The Windjammer.
