About

On the Lüneburg Heath there are still six women's convents which survived as protestant convents (after the reformation). In their archives there are lots of music manuscripts from the middle ages which are of enormous importance not only for music history but also for the history of convents in northern Germany in general.

Selected musical examples are here interpreted by the Ensemble Devotio Moderna for the first time, and accompanied by informative, detailed and illustrated booklets about this particular musical culture.
