About

A captivating CD of virtuosic Russian folk dances and evocative ballads, from Glinka and Tchaikovsky to innovative contemporary pieces by Grigori Korchmar and Elena Langer, played by one of the leading British classical guitarists of his generation, Carl Herring.

Having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with first class honours in 2003, Carl Herring won the highly coveted Julian Bream Prize and the prestigious Ivor Mairants Award. Carl’s blossoming career has already seen him share a stage with John Williams, and he has received the enthusiastic praise of Leo Brouwer and György Kurtág for his interpretation of their compositions. With a rapidly growing international reputation, he has given performances in Cuba, Sri Lanka, Scandinavia, Continental Europe and the Caribbean, and has given recitals for Britain’s leading international guitar festivals and societies.
