About

"Quilter’s music is extraordinary in its metrical ingenuity, especially the solo piano music, which is particularly personal in its expression. Convention requires him to choose just one time-signature at a time, but the story is usually much more complex than that. This rhythmic virtuosity stems from his love of language, just as it did in Mendelssohn." (David Owen Norris)

David Owen Norris’s work is unusually varied. He performs around the world as a concerto soloist, recitalist, accompanist and chamber musician, on pianos ancient and modern. He has written two radio-operas and produced two iPod series for BBC Radio 4 and numerous Building a Library programmes for Radio 3. Television appearances include programmes on Elgar and Parry, and the Six Nations Rugby Tournament.

He’s been a repetiteur at Covent Garden, harpist at the RSC, chairman of the Steans Institute in Chicago, Gresham Professor of Music, and Artistic Director of the Cardiff International Festival & the Petworth Festival. He is currently Professor of Musical Performance at the University of Southampton, Visiting Professor at the RCM & the RNCM, and the organist of Poole Parish Church.

This is the world premiere recording of the Suite from 'Where the Rainbow Ends'.
